Reinterpreting two select tracks for his Apple Music Home Session, Kojey Radical submits to a tried-and-true philosophy. “I’m a huge believer in ‘space and base,’” Kojey Radical says of his Apple Music Home Session. Which means, space: to let the music do what it’s going to do. And base: which carries the soul. Expanding his output over the years around this, the Londoner has evolved countless times—from a fledging poet and visual artist to a seasoned MC with an acclaimed debut (2022’s Reason to Smile) under his belt. Together with “Born,” taken from his debut studio album, Kojey cues up a stripped-back cover of Baby Keem’s 2019 mixtape cut “BULLIES.” “I’ve been a fan of his for some time,” he says of the Vegas newcomer. “I was in New York around the time he had his first show out there [at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn], and there was this energy in the air, everyone was so excited. And with ‘Born,’ obviously, I had to strip it down to the bare bones. It encapsulates African and Caribbean sounds so beautifully. This year has blessed me in more ways than I can imagine, so I just want to keep giving people reasons to smile.” Dive in for a taste of Kojey’s stunning reworks—featuring London MC Cashh.
