Apple Music Home Session: Adekunle Gold

When it came to making music throughout the pandemic, “it actually taught me that I was good at what I did without external validation,” Nigerian singer-songwriter Adekunle Gold tells Apple Music. “I had to do everything solo without outside stimulation. And that self-validation is so vital for artistry.” He carried that limitless approach to his 2022 album, Catch Me If You Can. For his Apple Music Home Session—the exclusive series where artists record stripped-back versions of existing songs—Gold tackled acoustic versions of his singles “Sinner” and “One Woman”, alongside an intimate cover of “Sunday” by Nigerian American singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun. “I pick my songs according to my appetite,” Gold explains. “At this moment I was feeling a bit tender, and these are the songs that fit my mood.”
