Ghosts of the Great Highway

Ghosts of the Great Highway

Ghosts of the Great Highway was Mark Kozelek’s first solo LP following the Red House Painters, and it bears the rustic charm and folk-rock comfort that accompany all his best work. Introspective as always, Kozelek weaves three heartfelt tableaux together in “Glenn Tipton,” while the swaggering, electric guitar-heavy “Salvador Sanchez” sees him delving further into the heavy territory of influences like Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Ghosts is fulfilling across the board, with “Carry Me Ohio” as the wistful cherry on top.
