Oasis emerge from their comedown with an intriguing sonic update. After Be Here Now’s excesses, this is the hangover: “Gas Panic!”, “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”, and “Sunday Morning Call” all ache with small-hours regret. Noel Gallagher’s not one for excessive self-pity though and, echoing his collaborations with The Chemical Brothers, he employs drum loops, electronica, and psychedelic enterprise on exhilarating opener “F****n’ In the Bushes” and the heady grooves of “Go Let It Out”, and “Who Feels Love?”. A galvanising new chapter after all that hedonism.
