Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm

Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm

PRESENCE, the album that precedes Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm, is a celebration of the MC’s longevity. Styles wields his OG status across it, delivering wisdom in rhyme to listeners and a handful of like-minded upstart guests. Despite its slightly more jovial title, his new project again comes for props from a technical rapping perspective. He takes time on the album’s first proper song “Noah and David" to clarify where his head is: “You just want a chain, my n*gga, you thinking slave-like/Me, I want a chain of stores, I’ll get my lane right.” He wouldn’t be speaking here to D-Block affiliates Snyp Life and Cassandra the Goddess, each of whom uses their time on the mic—“Homies” and “Backpack Rap,” respectively—to show out for the OG. Nor would he be addressing fellow Lox members and album guests Jadakiss (“Corona Kiss”) and Sheek Louch ("Animals"). But there are reminders aplenty on Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm that as an MC and a person, Styles P is someone we could all learn from.
