Back when jazz was enjoying some soulful radio exposure (think Ramsey Lewis' "The In Crowd" and Cannonball Adderley's "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy"), the immensely successful title track of this great trumpeter's 1963 album hit the pop chart and just kept rising. It's even better in its original form, a 10-minute boogaloo romp featuring brilliant solos by Morgan, saxophonist Joe Henderson, and pianist Barry Harris. The rest of the album is a richly satisfying hard-bop love fest of masterfully swinging, blues-based blowing.
