Far from home, piano-pillaging rockabilly pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis enlisted a swaggering ensemble of British session players in the early ’70s, including future solo stars Peter Frampton and U.S. transplant Gary Wright. There are some real surprises among these 25 cuts, like a bluesy and distorted version of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and the tear-jerking lament-turned-romp “No Headstone on My Grave.” Though Lewis was more of a country star by this point, “The Rock & Roll Medley” is a comprehensive time capsule that’s blasted right into orbit.
