No one expected Latin trap star Anuel AA to finally drop his debut album on the same day he was released from a two-year-plus stint in prison. Assembled on the low while the Puerto Rican rapper was locked down, Real Hasta la Muerte mixes furious bass-and-bars flexes (“Yeezy”) with fizzy reggaetón bops (“Quiere Beber”). The rhymes are defiantly raw either way, especially when Anuel is slinging his signature between-the-sheets boasts. And while only a handful of tracks hint at his recent tribulations (“Brindemos”), they’re among the most ferocious, clapping back at those who try to keep him down.
