On his long-awaited debut album, Tamasha, Winit Tikoo paints a varied sonic picture that has been in the works since 2014. Across nine tracks, the Kashmiri singer/songwriter offers the folk-blues of "Ajnabi", the nostalgic alt-rock of "Gds" and "Jaan-e-Jaan" and a dreamy acoustic fusion on "Pagal". He pays homage to celebrated Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz on "Faiz" before plunging into a chilling, emotionally-charged account of India’s partition in the 12-minute centrepiece "19:47".
