Kiss pack a ton of surprises into their mid-'90s MTV Unplugged session. Featuring acoustic guitars anchored to Gene Simmons’ electric bass, the set peaks with an unannounced reunion of the original lineup. Drummer Peter Criss delivers a raspy “Beth,” accentuating its humble charms, and axeman Ace Frehley leads them through a folk-rock version of the Stones’ “2,000 Man,” complete with massive kicks. If that weren’t enough, they drop several lesser-known cuts like the ballad “Sure Know Something,” which shows off Paul and Gene’s tight, Beatles-esque harmonies.
