Gracias!... América... Sin Fronteras

Gracias!... América... Sin Fronteras

This venerable California-based norteño band reached out to America on its 1986 album. The best songs here reflect the immigrant community; "Sin Fronteras" and "America" are both songs of Hispanic pride. The latter tune even has a modern, rocking arrangement with bass and drums replacing their usual tuba and snare. But the band also continues to perform narcocorridos about the criminal underworld: despite its tough-sounding vocal, "El Macho y el Hombre" rejects the notion that real men need to prove themselves through violence.
