Striking a perfect balance of slow-motion beat, liquid guitar, and intoxicating vocal melody, then-16-year-old French producer Petit Biscuit’s 2016 tropical-house single “Sunset Lover” proves remarkably adaptable. Manatee Commune subtracts the guitar and adds rippling drums and delicate electronic detailing, emphasizing a vast sense of space; Clément Bazin boosts the energy with steel pans and marching-band snares. Strangest of all is Daktyl’s remix, in which hip-hop beats stumble and tempos lurch as though drunk on the beauty of those irresistible Siren-song vocals.
