The second album by this Berlin-based trio continues their explorations into a synth-folk-pop that’s drawn comparisons to the Pet Shop Boys, Peter, Björn and John and Kings of Convenience. The simple, unaffected beauty of the opening cut, “You Drew a Line,” should make a strong case for listening further. It’s no coincidence that Daniel Schaub and Par Lammers have had success as songwriters for German pop starlet Lena Meyer-Landruth. The duo’s hooks are everywhere. “Show Me Your Love” is a somber pop song of striking elegance with a melody designed to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. There’s a Trembling Blue Stars vibe to much of the material as well. “You or My Guitar” hints at a loneliness under its excited grace. “What You See In Me” crafts a dark world where keyboards and acoustic guitars weave a deep web. Even “You Keep Me In Love” evokes a cloudy sky as its lyrics tells us a different story that things are actually quite well. “Lullaby” pulses with infectious energy. “Tremors” doubles that energy. Recommended.
