This massive outdoor concert drew 600,000 of Québec’s citizens on La Fête Nationale, June 23, 1976. The music reflected the ideals of an independent province: Yvon Deschamps, best known as a comedian, makes a plea for cultural unity on "Aimons-Nous." Rock ’n' roller Jean Chevrier does "The Frog Song," which reclaims a word that had been a cultural slur. Poet and balladeer Gilles Vigneault leads the group in "Les gens du mon pays," an unofficial anthem that praises the strength and resilience of the Québécois.
