Yo La Tengo's diverse catalog reveals their ability to make most any genre their own. They nail barely restrained, groove-heavy epics (“Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind”), folky love tunes (“My Heart's Not In It”), and noodly dream pop cuts (“The Pain of Pain”) with equal aplomb. And noisy rock attacks like “Big Day Coming (Second Version)” still sound as fresh as they did in the ‘90s.
