Xscape Essentials

Jermaine Dupri is said to have unveiled the '90s R&B quartet Xscape at his birthday party in 1991. Signing to the producer's So So Def label, 1993's Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha debut scored a platinum plaque with its breezy and laidback vibe. 1998's follow up, Off the Hook, continued the run of commercial success, this time fortifying the formula with a cameo from golden era hip-hop icon MC Lyte and a lead single that became a summer jam anthem. Proving the group's soulful talent, their final album, 1998's Traces of My Lipstick, was again certified platinum.
