Xavier Dunn: The Producers

Xavier Dunn: The Producers

Sydney’s Xavier Dunn moves comfortably between indie pop, dance, and adjacent genres. He excels at establishing open space and dreamy textures, whether it’s in service of Jack River’s breathy storytelling or Client Liaison’s rapturous synth-funk. Dunn balances chill electronic beats with a taut string section on Carla Wehbe’s quirky alt-rock self-portrait “introvert (with extroverted expectations)” and similarly brings a heightened emotional atmosphere to Yorke’s cosmic-tinged ballad “Promise.” A musician himself, he’s well-positioned to capture the big, burbling guitar solo that kicks off The Tin Knees’ “Let’s Be Honest” while still shepherding club-ready BPMs on Arno Faraji’s “On the Move.” And in his own thoughtful solo work, raw feelings are always treated with a delicate touch.
