U2: Influences

Before they were superstars, they were punks. You can hear traces of bands like The Skids and The Clash on U2's debut album, but their love of glam, soul, blues, and classic rock soon became obvious. The Dublin idols have always been open to fresh ideas, too: by 1991's Achtung Baby, they were listening to indie and industrial groups like My Bloody Valentine and The Young Gods.
