TOOL: Influences

TOOL: Influences

TOOL didn’t just stand out in the early ’90s because of their lengthy albums and tripped-out lyrics. They’re one of the most innovative heavy bands ever, and that’s largely thanks to their love of music that stretches well beyond the realms of prog and metal. The band also drew inspiration from experimental folk, rock, and jazz artists, reflected via unconventional song structures, complex time signatures, and the quieter, reflective moments which perfectly balance—and enhance—their heavy side.
