Thornapple are often classified as a shoegaze band, but fans of the Korean rock quartet are just as likely to be jumping in ecstasy as they are swaying with hands in pockets. The band released their first album in 2010 but quickly went on hiatus, reemerging in 2012 with their reissued debut. This time, it took off, packing out clubs with their dense, layered guitar rock. Thornapple expanded their style with punk-attitude vocals and thrashy percussion, adding strains of restrained, dreamy funk to cook up an eclectic sound that's as unpredictable as it is rewarding.
