The Zombies Essentials

The Zombies Essentials

In 1964, nobody sounded like The Zombies. The sophistication of their debut single "She's Not There," complete with Colin Blunstone's helium-light vocals and Rod Argent's splashy electric piano solo, set them apart from their British Invasion peers. Subtle elements of bossa nova and jazz added depth to their otherwise R&B-driven singles. By the time the band's gently psychedelic farewell, 1967's Odessey and Oracle, belatedly spawned a massive U.S. hit with the single "Time of the Season," the band had already split. A new lineup headed by Blunstone and Argent began touring in the '90s.
