The Temptations Essentials

The Temptations Essentials

Tailored suits, nimble choreography, and beautifully bittersweet songs helped this Detroit vocal group sell tens of millions of albums. The five-piece formed under the auspices of Motown head Berry Gordy in the early '60s, and, led by the hair-raising vocals of David Ruffin, scored their first No. 1 in early '65. They became soul-pop immortals. Despite several lead singer changes, The Temps continued to make hits, including a series of masterful psych-soul albums in the late '60s and early '70s. They later embraced funk, disco, and adult contemporary, and continue to play to huge audiences.
