The Story So Far Essentials

The Story So Far debuted in 2007 as devotees of Southern California pop-punk, offering Warped Tour-ready anthems such as “Things I Can't Change” and “Mt. Diablo,” which were heavy on fierce power chords and rafters-rattling wailing. But as the band matured, they began to open up their sound while looking inward. The intricately plucked “Upside Down” has a premature wistfulness for young adulthood; stripped-down but sumptuous acoustic ballad “Clairvoyant” is a mature look at taking responsibility for romantic mistakes. But these boys haven't gone completely soft, as “Let It Go” starts small and strummy before erupting into a thoughtful roar.
