The Rubens Essentials

Three of The Rubens' five members are brothers, and all five grew up together in Menangle, a village south-west of Sydney. The band officially formed in 2011, but a lifetime of friendship and family ensured a certain chemistry from the start, with debut single “Lay It Down.” Since then, their lush, propulsive rock has evolved with each release, from deep, bluesy earworms, including “My Gun” and “Hoops”—which was crowned the winner of 2015's triple j Hottest 100—to heartstring-tugging piano ballads, such as “Never Ever (feat. Sarah).”
