Editors’ Notes Las Vegas quartet The Killers revolutionized indie rock in the mid-‘00s with a synth-led sound that reflected the excess and pathos of their hometown. Fronted by heartthrob Brandon Flowers, the band scored four suitably killer hits with their unashamedly retro debut album, Hot Fuss. A departure into Bruce Springsteen-esque heartland rock on its followup, Sam's Town, proved to be just as commercially rewarding, and by the time that 2008's Day & Age hit the shelves, they had become credible contenders for Coldplay's and U2's stadium-rock crown.
