In the ‘60s, The Hollies had a journey strikingly similar to that of The Beatles, evolving swiftly from a rough-and-tumble, R&B-influenced crew to purveyors of sophisticated pop and, by decade's end, swirling psychedelic sojourns. They then managed the tricky task of extending both their popularity and musical growth into the ‘70s, scoring big with soulful ballads as well as some returns to their rocking roots. But wherever they wandered stylistically, their twin trademarks were glowing three-part harmonies and razor-sharp songwriting.
