The fin. Essentials

Japanese indie band The fin. are influenced by Britpop and hazy shoegaze, so it comes as no surprise that they relocated from Kobe to London to pursue their UK-tinged sound. The band's 2014 album Days With Uncertainty is a glorious romp down an '80s memory lane—the cool melody of “Illumination” harks back to days of British indie pop mixtapes, while Yuto Uchino's falsetto in “Night Time” rises hazily over reverb-drenched guitar. In 2018, the band released There, an electronic-inspired album that draws on downtempo synths for a heady, late-night vibe.
