Even the most deeply buried parts of The Cult's catalog reveal a goldmine of heavy hooks, like the bluesy, AC/DC-esque riff of “Aphrodisiac Jacket.” “New York City” storms out of the gate with demonic metal licks and Ian Astbury's gritty howls. The band slows it down on the lush, stormy “Deeply Ordered Chaos,” complete with suspenseful strings. And “In The Clouds” sees them crank the overdrive on some old-school, stomp-along rhythm guitar.
