The Cathedrals Essentials

Known for their tight four-part harmonies and rich voices, The Cathedrals were one of southern gospel's best known quartets. Founded in 1963 as a trio in Akron, Ohio, they soon added a member and performed with esteemed evangelist Rex Humbard. Gospel great Bill Gaither then gave them wider exposure via his series of Gaither Homecoming videos. Throughout the years, the group made dozens of albums, from faithful traditionals to praise songs featuring the London Philharmonic Orchestra. A number of singers passed through the quartet until health problems and retirements brought the end in 1999.
