With the 1990 release of Shake Your Money Maker, The Black Crowes were hailed as the second (or third) coming of classic Southern rock. Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson steered the band through a few incarnations, sometimes rocking straight-ahead and sometimes entering free-flowing jam territory. Despite periodic break-ups and reunions, the Crowes' unpredictable live shows endeared them to a cult audience, and their later albums proved they could pull off a rootsier acoustic sound. Sadly, tensions between the two brothers seemed to end the band for good in early 2015.
