The Afghan Whigs Essentials

Formed in Cincinnati in the late '80s by Greg Dulli, John Curley, and Rick McCollum, The Afghan Whigs have been one of the most influential and critically acclaimed alternative rock groups for nearly three decades. They started as a straightforward grunge band, but soon infused soul and psychedelic rock after signing with Sub Pop records, creating their now-signature sound. After a fierce bidding war, they signed to Elektra, leading to darker and more conceptual LPs. They disbanded in 2001, but reformed in 2011, releasing new material and touring the world to the delight of their fans.
