“Fela Kuti is one of my greatest inspirations,” 22-year-old tech entrepreneur Iddris Sandu tells Apple Music. “He's forever ingrained in my mind as a thought leader who had to navigate Africa at a time when political socio-conscious music wasn't as popular as it is now. I feel very connected to his spirit and the continuation of his message.” Sandu, who founded the firm ETHOS DNA to work on sustainability issues, includes Fela on his Black History Month playlist full of artists who have meant more to his life and work beyond the music they've made. Pharrell Williams is another: “As someone that also has synesthesia and is extremely creative, Pharrell is someone I consider a mirror and reflection of what I want my brand to represent.
