Tayla Parx Essentials

Tayla Parx’ songwriting skill has livened up the pop charts, while her energetic performances make her solo work varied and dynamic. Born Taylor Parks in 1993 in Dallas, she studied dance under legendary choreographer Debbie Allen as a child, and Allen brought her to Washington, DC, to join the repertory of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. After acting in movies and TV shows like Hairspray and True Jackson, VP, Parx signed her first music publishing deal. She self-released a mixtape, Tayla Made, in 2017, and a year later, she co-wrote three Top 10 hits: Khalid and Normani’s “Love Lies,” Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next,” and Panic! At the Disco’s “High Hopes.” Her 2019 debut album, We Need to Talk, was followed by 2020’s Coping Mechanisms; she has also continued writing, with her credits on Grande’s Positions including the smash “34+35.”
