Suicidal Tendencies came out of the SoCal hardcore scene, capturing ‘80s teenage alienation in a way few other bands could. As they progressed, they added elements of metal to their sound, which helped them to remain relevant well into the ‘90s. Throughout the band's career, their songs have been concerned with personal issues that resonate with their core audience: frustration, alienation, and rebellion.
