Subliminal Essentials

Subliminal Essentials

Kobi Shimoni, aka Subliminal, was extremely frustrated in the '90s. His dream was to make rap records, but Israel was lacking the proper recording studios and even clubs. So he built both, as well as an independent label, launching not only his own career, but also allowing other Israeli rap artists to flourish under his wing. Subliminal's lyrics are political, Zionist and confrontational, and he took on Ariel Sharon during the Israeli pull-out from Gaza in 2005 with protest rap track "That Was My Home". The song was a hit, but Sharon wasn't impressed, and the army withdrew, as planned.
