Steve Winwood's album tracks and collaborations reveal an artist with a long-established love of musical cross-fertilization. There's the chiming synth sitar in 1980's “Spanish Dancer,” the skeletal funk waltz and medieval chants of Traffic's “Rainmaker,” and Viv Stanshall's gently surreal lyrics in “Dream Gerrard,” all deftly cemented in place by Winwood's confidently expressive soul voice.
