But his ‘60s comeback resulted in iconic performances of old Delta blues tunes, captured in high fidelity: His shrill sighs during “Pearline” are as full of emotion as his live-wire guitar lines, and he could cast a spell in folk-music cafés, as on the live “A True Friend Is Hard to Find.”
