Silbermond are masters of the crescendoing power ballad—the kind of track, like “Das Beste” and “Krieger des Lichts,” that grabs you with a soft, tender melody, then turns you inside out as it adds drums and strings, the singer pushing higher with every new addition. The singer, in this case, is Stefanie Kloss. She and her bandmates first came together in the late '90s, and in 2004, they caught Germany's ear with “Symphonie,” with a piano intro giving way to distorted guitars that reveal their alt-rock roots. On “Unendlich,” they rock out a little more, guitarist Thomas Stolle cutting a big solo behind Kloss' soft voice.
