After meeting at a live house as teens, the members of SHE'S waited until high-school graduation before launching as a self-assured pop-rock four-piece. Centred on Ryoma Inoue’s piano-based compositions, the Osaka group proved their worth as finalists in youth rock festival Senkou Riot before making their album debut with 2017’s exuberant Proust To Hanataba. Subsequent records tone down the guitar riffs, though the energy finds an outlet in “The Everglow”—which contains more than a shade of emo—alongside ballads like “Tragicomedy” that give Inoue a chance to demonstrate his airy vocals.
