Set List: U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere

“Elvis has not left this building,” Bono told the sold-out crowd as U2 kicked off its first Las Vegas residency on September 29, U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere—a new, state-of-the-art dome in the Venetian Resort outfitted with Dolby Atmos technology and one of the world’s highest-resolution wraparound LED screens. The multi-sensory show—centered on one of the Irish band’s most personal and critically acclaimed albums, 1991’s Achtung Baby—delivers more than mind-blowing audiovisuals. “We can achieve intimacy at a level that we could never, whilst playing to 10,000 or 18,000 people,” Bono tells Zane Lowe. “We work very hard to achieve that intimacy in arenas. We work very hard to achieve that in a stadium or a festival. But here, the building’s made to work for the audience, it’s made to work for us.” The opening night’s set consisted of 22 tracks: eight from Achtung Baby, a mid-set suite of four songs from Rattle and Hum, the last four songs from Baby, and, finally, a handful of hits, including the Vegas tribute “Atomic City.” (Subsequent shows will swap out the Rattle and Hum section with minisets from other albums in the band’s revered catalog.) Listen to the songs U2 performed on opening night.
