Royal Trux Essentials

Neil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema formed Royal Trux in 1987 while Hagerty was still making noise with Pussy Galore, initially using that band's blues-punk skronk as a petri dish for avant-garde experimentation. But by the early '90s, Royal Trux had mutated into the Rolling Stones of the underground, forging a singular brand of rock ‘n' roll that's dirtier than a biker-bar bathroom (“The Flag”) and as inscrutable as a scrambled TV signal (“Juicy Juicy Juice”). After a 17-year split, the duo reunited for the 2017 live album Platinum Tips + Ice Cream, subjecting all corners of their back catalog to a blown-out, in-the-red assault.
