Fronted by the prolific and irrepressible guitarist John "Speedo" Reis, San Diego garage rock and soul outfit Rocket From The Crypt was formed in 1990. Their winning formula combined the revolutionary spirit of MC5 and The Stooges with a blazing horn section and a punk attitude. The high-energy assault of 1995's Scream, Dracula, Scream! earned the band their greatest critical and commercial success. Despite various hiatuses and a bewildering number of side projects, RFTC were furiously productive until their 2002 split. They reformed in 2013 to play live shows.
