Richard Youngs has done almost everything, musically-speaking. The Scottish-born artist has put out albums of widescreen folk instrumentals, progressive rock, and electronic squiggling. He's also recorded an LP's worth of songs a cappella and challenged himself to write some incredibly accessible pop songs, as on 2009's Beyond The Valley of the Ultrahits. Youngs' songwriting voice, though, has remained consistent throughout, with heartfelt, deeply personal touches on even his most far-out compositions.
