Red Fang Essentials

Red Fang aren't big fans of ornamentation, delivering stoner metal that's stripped bare and amped way up. Yet within this simplicity exists a lot of different styles: “Prehistoric Dog,” from their 2009 debut, is dense and sludgy with Grand Funk-style axes ripping hard chug 'n' roll riffs; in contrast, “Hank Is Dead” brushes off some of the grunge to reveal twin guitars playing tight psychedelic-kissed harmonies. “Shadows” offers another killer style, as they inject a mega-dose of punk rage and chaos into violently flailing rhythms while trusted power chords hold down the center.
