Ralph Stanley Essentials

Ralph Stanley Essentials

Ralph Stanley's voice is the definition of bluegrass's high lonesome sound. Rural Virginia's The Stanley Brothers enjoyed success between the late '40s and Carter Stanley's death in 1966. Ralph, the tenor-singing, banjo-playing younger brother, continued on his own after Carter's passing, and he headlined festivals and concerts into the '10s. The soundtrack to the hit 2000 movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? was built around his repertoire and brought him renown far beyond the usual bluegrass and country audiences.
