Prince: Influences

Prince: Influences

In his Minnesota youth, Prince delved into the pioneers of funk such as Sly Stone, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder, but he also was enthralled with the psychedelic soul of Jimi Hendrix, Todd Rundgren's pop versatility, the swagger of The Rolling Stones, and the ethereal beauty of Joni Mitchell. These artists and more inspired Prince's eclectic sound.
