Styx Essentials

Rockers Styx may have toiled throughout Chicago in the early '70s, but by 1975—and into the '80s—singer/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw, guitarist James "J.Y." Young, bassist Chuck Panozzo, and drummer John Panozzo sold out stadiums everywhere. Along the way, the group amassed a progressive, oftentimes conceptual canon, including landmarks like The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight, and Paradise Theatre. The band broke up following the latter, but they reunited in various versions over the years, culminating in 1997's Return to Paradise.
