PJ Harvey Essentials

PJ Harvey's career is an object lesson for aspiring musicians: stay true to yourself and rewards will follow (including an honor from the Queen in 2013 for services to music). In the early '90s, she shook up the U.K. scene with two albums full of uncompromising noise rock and righteous fury. The singer/songwriter then confounded her critics by dropping her backing band and releasing a series of albums that explored blues, electronics, folk, and chamber music. Her uncompromising stance has been vindicated as she is the only artist to have won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize twice.
