Orietta Berti Essentials

From Sanremo to Un disco per l’estate, Orietta Berti was a fixture of the Italian music contest circuit in the ’60s and ’70s. She found popularity with “Tu Sei Quello”, the lush orchestration of which complemented the velvety tone of her voice that was a feature for much of this era—hear also “Io Ti Daro’ Di Piu’”. Decades on and the Italian folk singer and actress is a national treasure, beloved for her earnest character as much as the many classics to her name. But perhaps one of Berti’s greatest virtues is her ability to let loose, not least on the fun tongue-twister “Tipitipitì”.
