With a funky tipped hat to bands like Jamiroquai and Maroon 5, Japan's Nulbarich deliver jaunty pop-rock packed with foot-shuffling hooks and disco licks. Led by Jeremy "JQ" Quartz, the band is equally adept at crafting downbeat moments, too, deploying acid-jazz grooves and hip-hop influences that feed into an eclectic sound. Nulbarich’s name—a combination of the words "null but rich"—represents the idea of being satisfied despite having nothing, but their profuse J-pop nous deserves plenty of plaudits.
